I became a Mason for fellowship and guidance. Now, the knowledge is what I seek.
I remember first seeing the symbol as a child and wondering what it meant and I as an adult, was still curious. So, one day I asked a brother what the symbol meant (after I couldn't get a straight forward answer on the internet). He gave me a brief description and I ran with it. It took me about 2yrs to petition for a lodge.
I have never had a male figure to look up to but I have younger brothers and family members who look up to me and how could/can I guide them with no guidance of my own?
I needed more positive people in my life and positive things in my life. In the short time I have been in my lodge, I have felt a great change, spiritually and I have seen an improvement in the way I carry myself. I was already and good man. I just feel I am now becoming a better man.
The knowledge, once I was given it, I have just been inhaling it like oxygen. I not only read and understand it, I now live it.
